Turn your Dhivehi handwriting into a font
Draw or scan every Thaana letter and fili. Download a font that works in Word, on your phone and on websites.
What you can do
All 24 Thaana letters, the Arabic-origin letters and punctuation, with a tracing guide behind each one.
Draw each fili once. It sits correctly above or below every letter, wide or narrow.
Print a template, fill it in with a pen, take a photo. The app straightens it and picks out each letter.
Type Dhivehi with the built-in phonetic keyboard and see your own letters straight away.
Get a .ttf file to install on Windows, Mac or your phone, and use in Word or on a website.
Everything saves to your account as you go. Open your fonts on any device. Free accounts hold up to 5 fonts.
How it works
- Make your letters
Draw them on screen with a finger, pen or mouse, or scan a handwritten sheet.
- Check them together
Type real words to see how your letters and fili sit side by side, then adjust.
- Download and install
Save the .ttf file and choose your font in Word under Complex scripts.

Try your font
Make a font from your handwriting
Print the template on A4 paper at full size.
Write one character in each box with a dark pen or marker. Sit letters on the solid line. Write each fili on the grey ހ.
Take a photo or scan of each page, flat, with all four black corner squares in view.
Letters broken or too thin? Raise the sensitivity. Shadows showing up as ink? Lower it. Characters outlined in red will replace ones you already made.
